Girls, do you ever wonder why guys adore stockings? Why does the slightest glimpse of a lacy stocking top, a taut suspender or a naked thigh above the stocking turn men mad with desire?
What is it about suspender belts, garter belts and their intoxicating effect on males?
To me, it's a total mystery. You girls out there, please explain. Better still guys reading this, let me know how this works. Why are stockings such turn on for guys?
Incidentally, if your man gets you to see the movie Burlesque featuring Cher and Christina Aguilera, it is almost certainly not the music or the dancing that will hold his attention!
I became aware of the whole stocking thing when my first serious boy friend and I were reading a Sunday newspaper together on the sofa.
He suddenly tensed and then hastily turned the page. I was curious and discretely turned the page back. His face gradually turned scarlet.
So what was his guilty secret? A picture of a hot looking lady wearing nothing more than a pair of black seamed stockings and a suspender belt (or garter belt if you live across the Atlantic).
What Men Want - Black Stockings
To cut a long story short, our relationship progressed but nothing to write home about. That is until I remembered the girl in seamed stockings in the paper.
I was buying a new coat at the time so I nipped over to the lingerie section and grabbed some black stockings and a racy suspender belt.
I’d never worn them before. Stockings to me always seemed a bit sleazy and old fashioned. Something more for my Dad’s generation, a ‘Carry On’ film or a St. Trinians movie.
But before I tell you about my stockings adventure, just what is the attraction of this particular combination of garments to the male of the species?
A wise girl friend told me that the psychology of Stockings and Suspenders is all about contrasts. Black stocking against white thigh. Even long black gloves can be a male turn on when covering a white arm.

Intricate Architecture of Desire
The stockings bind the thighs tightly while the suspenders are taut across the thigh to the belt or girdle that in turn binds the waist of the object of a man’s passion (you of course!).
If the stockings are seamed then the strong line at the rear of each stocking-clad leg runs parallel to the suspenders.
This geometry also plays a part in creating an intricate architecture of desire. A sensual balance of elastic forces and potential energy bound against vulnerable flesh.
Add to this potent mix fishnet stockings with the leg held tightly in a mesh and you have an explosive formula.
Relationship expert, Louise van der Velde, who likes to
wear stockings, believes the appeal is like unwrapping a present.

and ribbons. There’s as much excitement

Other experts say it’s the look and feel of the stocking that turn men on. The attraction is part visual, part tactile
and part glamour.
As a man moves his fingertips slowly up the leg toward the top of the stocking, the silky feel of the material and the promise of caressing warm flesh under a suspender at the journey's end is incredibly stimulating.
The glamour of stockings also evokes the 1940s and 50s and the golden age of sensual Hollywood femme fatales.
Mind you, it just wouldn’t be so erotic if the stockings were baggy, the suspenders hanging loose and the garter belt slack. The tension and the tightness has something to do with what makes it feel so exciting.
And my first experience wearing black stockings? Well I put the stockings on together with the black lacy suspender belt and carefully fastened each of the suspenders in place. My hands trembled a little as I clicked the last suspender in place and stood to admire myself in the full length mirror.
I know it sounds
like I’m a show off but I do have really great legs and they never
looked
better than in those black seamed stockings with lacy stocking tops. I stared at myself, struggling to keep my breathing under control. The tightness of the suspenders taut between the belt and the stockings was mesmerising and intoxicating.
He Finally Noticed the Whites of my Thighs
Those seamed stockings felt so good that I was more than a little turned on by the time I put a long, wrap around skirt over the top and waited for lover boy to get home from work.
I struggle to describe the thrill of sitting demurely in front of him knowing and feeling what I was wearing while he was so blissfully unaware of the hidden delights.
I gradually lifted my skirt, moving to reveal my leg and continued to draw up the hem and allow the skirt to part until he finally noticed.
Modesty and AdSense forbids me from giving you the full blow by blow account of what followed but sufficient to say that he seized me with a passion and enthusiasm I’d not seen before or ever imagined he was capable of.
He carried me over his shoulder, caveman style, up the stairs and threw me on the bed and well, I leave you to figure out the rest. “Lucky you,” I hear you say but, (there is always a but isn’t there?)
The trouble was he spent more time looking at the stockings than me. And it soon became clear he had fallen in love with my underwear and not with Gina. Gifts of frilly clothing quickly followed. Basques, teddies and baby dolls.
But nothing tasteful. Only stuff that would look cheap even in a daytime hooker’s bottom drawer. Then came the uniforms. You know I really didn’t feel comfortable spending the whole afternoon in my own home dressed as a French Maid!
Oh the Smell of Burning Polyester!
It reminds me of the day that I discovered that my first schoolboy crush really loved my Mother’s cooking and not me. Anyway one wet November afternoon my guy was off playing soccer and had left me a little parcel containing a pair of scarlet fishnet stockings and a flame red suspender belt.
I felt angry and cheap so I threw them in the wood stove and then opened a bottle of wine to console myself. By the time the wine bottle was half empty I’d put all his gifts including the French maid’s costume to the fire.
I must confess, I really enjoyed seeing that outfit go up in flames. Oh the rich aroma of burning polyester! Then I started on his socks. That was the moment I realised that our relationship was over and I quickly packed a case and dragged it to the nearest Tube station before he returned.
That's the kind of spontaneous behaviour that my friends call a 'Gina Moment'. I'm not proud of my actions. But the truth is I still have a soft spot for stockings and suspenders. I love to wear them just as long as my man really appreciates me and not the stockings!
Since I burnt part of my boyfriend's wardrobe, I try to avoid wood burning stoves. Especially when I've been given cheap underwear and I'm drinking alone!

I feel a little sorry for your ex.
Many men don't want their wives and girlfriends to look like cheap hookers but they have little imagination and generally go too far when trying to find "something sexy" for their loved one. I wasn't that long ago that M&S stocked nothing but tanga briefs in 3 colours - black, beige and grey, we have less of an excuse these days for the scratchy red basque purchases.

I love women who wear stockings (both holdups and sussies).
If you ask me why, I would not be able to say it.
I like to caress a pair of legs while covered by stockings (sheer or opaque is the same, black or white or brown or gray or light pink doesn't matter, so it's not the contrast between the black of the stocking and the white of the skin: I'm not a black-stockings-freak, I am a any-decent-colour-stockings-freak). I like the fact that the woman can leave these garments on while making love (you've probably understood that I hate tights). I like underwear as well, while I'm not crazy about sea-side / swimming pool outfits.
I like taking off a woman's clothes... maybe I get aroused because I feel unconsciously that these garments are something like a secret that not everyone in the street can see. (btw whenever I see a girl wearing a skirt and stocking, I try to see in a glimpse what type of stockings she's wearing: holdups or sussies.. I think it's called stocking sighting or simply sighting)

Many girls told that usually men only want to take their clothes off, while I appreciate very much how women dress like.

Stockings and suspenders in most cases drive a man wild. This I think is due to the fact that most men like to be dominated in the bedroom. They invisage a mistress type of figure when they see stockings and its true to say that the female body is much more desirable when it is hidden beneath sexy lingerie.

There is NOTHING FINER than a set of long gorgeous legs encased in sheer nylons and a garter belt! I would rather have a little nothing on my woman (eye candy) than to have her naked! This will make any man's blood boil next to a competely naked woman, ANYTIME!

I've always been a fan, and for me the draw is obvious.
Cross countour lines! That is, lines that wrap around the curves of a woman's body. That's why I've always preferred bikini cut to thong. The way the lines wrap around and describe the curvature of the body and legs defines their shape, and describes the dimension as opposed to viewing the body as flat outlined shapes. It's purely visual aesthetics.
Gina, I was a teenager of the sixties. I still feel that one of the worst events in the world was when mini-skirts came into fashion in the mid sixties. You might think men thought, great! Mini skirts, wow! Wrong. Overnight every girl ditched the suspenders and stockings and went over to tights because you could always see the stockings and suspenders with a mini. It was terrible. The tights might as well have been a suit of armour, completely covering everything and more or less saying hands off. Where as the gap between the stocking tops and knickers was always like an enticing open, easily accessible invitation to a mans desire.

Hey Gina, Panty hose are just about the worst. They're like shrink wrapping your body, ugh! I agree with all of the reasons nylons and garters so sexy, and it's true of most lingerie in general. It can be worn so that all the private places are showing while being showcased. Stockings have this remarkable ability to accentuate the thigh and the calf especially with high heels. The way the light plays on the fabric is very hot. A corset does the same while hinting of bondage, of being packaged expecially for one's lover. My wife goes barefooted whenever she can, but she'll wear 5" heels for me when we're playing together. Stockings and heels also make a woman exude a confidence in her body, even pride to show off her "assets". Women with beautiful legs tend to show them off. Women with small waists tend to wear clothes that fit tight in the middle. When I come home and find my wife "dolled up" in sexy lingerie I know it's going to be a really good night. Sometimes she wears a tight corset to work just to remind herself all during the day that she's mine. That really turns both of us on!
